Former President Moncef Marzouki sentenced to eight years in prison in absentiav

The Criminal Chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance has sentenced former President Moncef Marzouki to eight years in prison in absentia, court spokesperson Mohamed Zitouna told TAP on Friday. He stressed that Marzouki had made statements at a conference abroad "calling for a change in the form of the Tunisian government, inciting citizens to use weapons against each other, spreading disorder and committing murder and looting throughout the country".
