Governors of Mahdia and Monastir dismissed

The governors of Mahdia and Monastir were dismissed, Wednesday, at the request of President of the Republic Kais Saied, reads a statement of the Presidency of the Republic. "It is unacceptable under any circumstances that one governor or delegate spends the whole time in their office without moving around and listening to locals' concerns," the Head of State said during a meeting he had, Wednesday, at Carthage Palace, with Interior Minister Kamel Feki, Director General of National Security, Mourad Saidane, and Director General of the National Guard Houcine Gharbi. He added that «It is also unacceptable that one governor pretends to be unaware of water or electricity cuts in their region while they are supposed to help provide decent public services to citizens.» Kais Saied reiterated the need to fight against speculation, soaring prices and increase control over distribution channels, the same source said. On the other hand, President Saied urged citizens to boycott products whose prices have been increas ed by speculators, especially during the month of Ramadan. «City council officials must carry out their duties at best and very soon and protect citizens' interests,» Saied pointed out. He ordered municipal authorities to remove household garbage on a daily basis, saying that "it is unacceptable to leave piles of garbage in the streets for four days."
