Joint Arab nomination for inscription in 2023 on Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

Arts, skills and practices associated with engraving on metals (gold, silver and copper)ยป is an element presented in a joint Arab file bringing together 10 countries including Tunisia nominated for the inscription of the 2023 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This Arab file brings together Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Mauritania, Palestine, Sudan, Tunisia and Yemen. It is among 45 nominations to the UNESCO Representative List which will be examined during the 18th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage to be held from December 4 to 9, in Kasane (Republic of Botswana), reads a statement of UNESCO on Wednesday, November 22, by the TAP agency. The element (The arts, skills and practices associated with metal engraving - gold, silver and copper), is listed in the inventories of the respective submitting States. Community participation in the nomination process began in Iraq. The idea of a multinational nomination was then proposed to the Conference of Ministers Responsible for Cultural Affairs in the Arab World.
