With two days to go before the closing date, the candidacy filing process for the local councils continues apace. In one day, the number of candidacies filed to the electoral authority rose from 3,684 to 4,808, up by 1,124. 598 of the candidates are people with disabilities, data published Tuesday by the Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) show. The highest number of candidacies was logged in Sidi Bouzid governorate (281 direct candidates and 50 candidates with disabilities, followed by Kasserine (291 candidates) and Kairouan (264 candidates). The lowest number of candidacies, i.e. 70, was reported in Kebili.
