Candidate Hassen Hamed joined the campaign for the election of the south Medenine local council alongside 5 other candidates. He stated that he would "not make any big promises, but rather convey the proposals of citizens and their concerns, which he would defend in order to serve his region." Hamad told TAP that he undertakes to ensure all the factors of development in his region with "a sincere and strong will." In the electoral programme he presented to citizens, this candidate promised to create a post office in the Imada of Omra Jedida as well as children's clubs and sports halls. He undertook to solve the transport problem, improve basic infrastructure, boost economic and social dynamic and regional development, encourage the creation of micro-projects and attract investors in the agricultural and textile sectors. He also indicated that he would ensure that one person is employed for every poor family, bolster agriculture and help small farmers, as well as facilitate the supply of drinking water t o citizens in rural areas and the supply of electricity to their homes. The candidate also proposes to regularise the situation of construction workers whose contracts had been suspended and who had not received their due. At the region's level, the candidate's programme includes the expansion of the port of Zarzis, the extension of the rail network to Ben Guerdane, improving the situation of the Medenine teaching hospital and the construction of the Ajim el Jorf bridge. 28 candidates are vying for 10 seats on the south Medenine local council, in addition to one other seat to be filled by sortition among 5 candidates.
