Minister of Foreign Affairs meets Chinese ambassador in Tunis

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, met on Tuesday with Chinese Ambassador in Tunis, Wan Li, at the Ministry's headquarters. The meeting focused on the development of bilateral relations, in particular the outcome of the Chinese Foreign Minister's visit to Tunisia from January 14 to 16, as well as the main upcoming bilateral and multilateral meetings. While recalling that 2024 will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tunisia and China, Nabil Ammar commended the dynamism of the Tunisian-Chinese relations and the desire of both parties to take them to a higher level. In this context, he welcomed the new impetus given to bilateral relations by the meeting between the President Kais Saied and his Chinese counterpart in Riyadh in December 2022. The Minister also underlined the Chinese government's continued support for Tunisia's development efforts, particularly through infrastructure, health and sports projects. On another level , the two parties stressed the importance of increasing the number of high-level visits between the two countries and strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between Tunisia and China in various fields. Emphasis was also placed on the convergence of views between the two countries on major regional and international issues, first and foremost the Palestinian cause.
