Tunis: The Ministry of the Family, Women, Children and the Elderly, in coordination with the National Observatory for Combating Violence against Women, is planning to carry out a study on the typical profiles of perpetrators of violence against women in Tunisia, according to a press release issued by the ministry on Monday. During a working session to monitor the progress of the programmes implemented by this observatory, the Minister for the Family called for the need to speed up the preparation of a study on the typical profiles of perpetrators of violence against women, based on a sample of people who have committed crimes of violence against women. In this context, she recommended the launch of a consultation for the preparation of a study on media coverage of violence against women and cases of violence against young girls. The minister also called for the rapid creation of a portal for recording data on violence to ensure digital networking between the various parties involved. According to the same press release, the ministry will publish a quarterly report with statistics on cases reported to the toll-free telephone number 1899. During the meeting, Moussa stressed the need to prepare a national report on regional coordination to combat violence against women and to implement a pilot project to record forms of violence in 6 governorates, namely Nabeul, Bizerte, Kef, Kairouan, Ben Arous and Ariana.
