The National Council of Regions and Districts will be set up by April 2024 at the latest, official spokesman for the Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) Mohamed Tlili Mnasri announced on Friday. The establishment of the this council will depend on the time required to examine and rule on disputes regarding the results of the first and second rounds of local elections, he explained in a statement to TAP. If the aforementioned deadlines will be shortened, it is possible that the process of setting up this institution will be completed by next March, Mnasri added. Promoted to the role of second parliamentary chamber in Tunisia's bicameral legislative system, the establishment of the National Council of Regions and Districts is contingent on compliance with the schedule for local and regional elections previously set by the ISIE. The latter provides for an electoral campaign running from December 2 to December 22. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
