NDC will champion community dev’t in Anyaa Sowutoum – Adotey Allotey

Mr Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Anyaa Sowutoum Constituency, says his vision is to offer a 'visible leadership' and ensure community development when voted as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area. Mr Allotey in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said he would make himself accessible to the constituents by setting up three offices at strategic areas within the Constituency. He said he would have offices Awoshie last stop, Sowutoum Polo Junction and Chantan Market areas. The offices, he said, would serve as meeting places for the constituents on community development. 'I will make myself available to pick up their concerns, ideas and views and ensure they are represented on the floor of Parliament. I will also exhibit visible leadership by making sure I meet them very often, identifiable groups such as the Landlords Association, churches, mosques, market folks, GPRTU and all the other groups. We will be meeting very often to discuss developmental issues,' he explained. The Aspiring Lawmaker, as part of his seven developmental agenda for Anyaa Sowutoum, said, he would help address the poor road networks, street lightening and poor drainage systems in the Constituency. He noted that about 80 percent of the road network in the Constituency was not motorable and said he would use his lobbying skills to have them fixed. 'The third agenda in my vision of community development is security and lightening. From Baah Yard to the far end, the streetlights are not working and that is posing a lot of danger to the people of Anyaa Sowutoum…we need to fix this. I am going to work with the Assembly and other agencies to ensure that our streetlights are working 24 hours to ensure safety,' he said. Mr Allotey pledged to engage the police in the establishment of police posts in remote areas of the Constituency to boost night patrols and curb criminal activities. He said he also planned to establish an education fund to support brilliant pupils and stud ents. 'We will be having what we call the 'Anyaa Sowutoum Educational Fund' where I would bring all the stakeholders to look for money to put in the Fund. I will use the MPs Common Fund as the seed capital…most of our people are aspiring to get higher levels of education, but finance has been their challenge. The educational fund will be used to support our people from all levels…' He touched on job creation and skills training for unemployed youth within the constituency and his agenda to support women particularly, petty traders, street hawkers, single mothers and widows with microcredit facilities to boost their businesses and support their families. He urged the 135,000 voters in the Constituency to vote for him as the next Member of Parliament for the transformation of Anyaa Sowutuom.
