Mr Kofi Amoatey, a Parliamentary Counsel, has charged the youth to be vanguards of peaceful electoral processes in Ghana. Mr Amoatey disclosed this at the 68th Afenorto festival at Mepe, where he emphasized the critical role of young people in ensuring the integrity and tranquility of the 2024 general elections. He said the youth were the backbone of the country's democracy, and it was imperative that they took ownership of the electoral process. 'I urge you all to cast your ballots with integrity, free from coercion, or intimidation, and make informed choices that will shape the future of our nation,' he explained. Mr Amoatey warned that the 2024 general election is a critical juncture in Ghana's development trajectory and that the choices made at the polls will have far-reaching consequences. He, therefore, encouraged the youth to prioritize peaceful and informed participation in the electoral process. The Parliamentary Counsel also called on all stakeholders, including political parties, to eschew vi olence and promote peace and unity before, during, and after the elections. 'Let us work together to build a stable and democratic Ghana, where every voice is heard, and valued,' he appealed. The youth in attendance pledged to heed Mr. Amoatey's call and champion peaceful elections and ensure that Ghana's democratic credentials are upheld. Source : Ghana News Agency
