President of the Free Destourian Party (PDL), Abir Moussi, will be prosecuted in a new case following a complaint filed, in December 2022, under Article 24 of decree-law no. °54, by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) for insulting a public official and disseminating false information, said Moussi's lawyer Karim Krifa, describing this new accusation «as a new attempt to eliminate a key opponent from the presidential elections.» Taking the floor at a press conference held, on Monday, at the PDL headquarters in Tunis, Krifa indicated that the complaint is about a post shared online by Abir Moussa where she wrote about the electoral campaign of the previous legislative elections in electoral districts abroad. This post is part of an open letter sent by Moussi to the President of the Republic he pointed out, adding that it «did not contain any false information or rumors as claimed by the ISIE President in his complaint.» Krifa emphasized that «opening this case at this particular time is a cl ear attempt to get rid of a key opponent from the next presidential elections scheduled for 2024, initially by through the judiciary, then through the ISIE.» «The President of the electoral body has hijacked the unbiasedness of the presidential elections even before their start and has turned the ISIE against one of the major candidates» he underscored.
