President Kais Saied visited on Sunday the farm of Borj Ettoumi in El Batan, Manouba governorate, where he followed the progress of the establishment of the first women's communitarian company called "Kadihat" (hardworking women).
The Head of State said that he had chosen to celebrate National Women's Day with hardworking women who persevere in progress and strive to create wealth and jobs.
In this context, he spoke of the number of requests for the creation of communitarian companies at regional and local level in various sectors, including tourism, industry and transport, pointing out that "there are those within the administrations who are working to disrupt these requests".
During his meeting with a group of women working in the agricultural sector at the Borj Ettoumi estate, President Kais Saied underlined the importance of the creation of the first women's communitarian company on a 541-hectare plot of land owned by the State Land Office but not exploited by it. He underlined the capacity of free Tunisian women to innovate and persevere in their efforts to achieve food sovereignty.
The President of the Republic also underlined his concern about the exploitation of female agricultural workers and the need to achieve economic and social equality between women and men.
During this visit, the Head of State listened to the concerns of women farm workers and stressed the need for the State Land Office to make the best use of land for the benefit of the national community, because "the land belongs to the State and its exploitation must be available to the people".
