Tunis: The border crossing of Ras Jédir (governorate of Médenine) will remain open for humanitarian and urgent cases only , a security source told TAP on Monday. This was at the request of the Libyan side, with neither reasons advanced nor a new date set. A full reopening was initially set for Monday in both directions. "The border crossing has been open for humanitarian, urgent and diplomatic cases since June 13," the same source added. A visit by a Tunisian high-level delegation to the border crossing to monitor, along with Libyan authorities, the reopening process and the resumption of full activity, was put off. As a result, a full re-opening of the border crossing - shut down since March on the Libyan side- was postponed for the second time. Libyan authorities had requested the postponement Thursday to finalise some procedures prior to the implementation of the agreement to open the crossing to passenger traffic in both directions on June 20.
