Tunisian rowers Khadija Krimi and Slim Jemii will be Tunisia's flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 26, the Tunisian National Olympic Committee (CNOT) announced on Thursday. During a ceremony in honour of the Tunisian athletes who qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games, president of the CNOT and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Mehrez Boussayène, said that the 26 participating athletes would receive an encouragement bonus. "This encouragement shows the special attention paid by the State to the athletes, which is intended to increase their responsibility to excel at the Paris event," Boussayène stressed. "Hopes are high for several athletes, notably Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi (Taekwondo), who is capable of winning the gold medal after winning silver at the Tokyo-2020+1 Olympics, alongside his teammate Firas Gattoussi, who has shown great potential." The CNOT president also mentioned wrestler Zeineb Seghaier and swimmer Ahmed Jaouadi, who are "ready to surp rise". Head of the Tunisian delegation to the 2024 Olympic Games, Ridha Manai, confirmed that all preparations for the Olympic deadline had been completed in optimal conditions. "It is now up to the athletes to fully assume their responsibilities and honour the national colours." The Tunisian delegation, made up of 63 members including 26 athletes, will leave for Paris on July 18 to attend the final preparatory meeting, with athletes arriving in the French capital from July 20, according to the competition schedule.
