The detailed technical procedures related to the Medical City in Kairouan will soon be finalised, according to Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic, Mourad Halloumi. The project, which is expected to create 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, will include a hospital centre with 13 medical specialties and various training and education units. There will also be an industrial unit linked to medical and pharmaceutical activities. Addressing parliament during a plenary session on the presidential budget on Monday, Halloumi denied any intention to abolish the ombudsman institution. He asserted that the institution would continue to fulfil its mission of restoring confidence in state institutions. Regarding the Tunisian Institute for Strategic Studies, the official confirmed the creation of a research and economic intelligence unit within the institution. He also noted that more than 30 strategic research papers have been published on the Institute's website over the past four years. He added that the In stitute is developing comprehensive studies covering economic, social, health, security, defence and digital communications. The aim is to understand geopolitical shifts and formulate all conceivable scenarios. The Institute's activities include geopolitical monitoring publications written by experts (at a rate of 20 documents per year) and submitted to the President of the Republic. The institute is currently working on a study on human security in Tunisia, which will be presented to parliamentary committees or the parliamentary academy, Halloumi replied.
