The results of the Tunisia-Burkina Faso Joint Commission meeting held recently in Ouagadougou were the subject of a meeting between President Kais Saied and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, at Carthage Palace on Friday afternoon. The Foreign Minister led the Tunisian delegation that attended the eighth session of the Tunisia-Burkina Faso Joint Commission, held in the Burkina Faso capital of Ouagadougou on 1 and 2 July. According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, the Head of State praised the results achieved and stressed the need to develop relations between Tunisia and the rest of the continent. "Africa has all the potential and all the riches and should belong to Africans because the peoples of the continent have suffered a lot over the centuries and deserve to be in a much better situation than they are today," said the President, recalling the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 1803 of 14 December 1962 on permanent sovereignty over natural resources. He stressed that the dream of African leaders at the beginning of the 1960s, when the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was created, must be shared by all African peoples in order to put an end to wars, misery and poverty. Tunisia's absolute adherence to its sovereignty and rejection of any foreign interference in its choices was also mentioned, according to the statement. The President of the Republic stressed the need to step up diplomatic action everywhere, highlighting the role of consuls in looking after the affairs of Tunisians abroad. The meeting also discussed preparations for the organisation of the National Seminar of Tunisian Experts Abroad. The President of the Republic pointed out that Tunisia is full of talents and is proud of it, adding that these talents are invaluable and it is no coincidence that even scientifically advanced countries seek to attract them.
