Tunisia to host 1st Pan-African Conference on Illicit Financial Flows

Tunis: Tunisia is hosting from June 26 to 28 the first Pan-African Conference on Illicit Financial Flows (PAC), organised by the African Union under the theme: 'Africa's Tax Agenda in Combatting Illicit Financial Flows: From Words to Action.' This pan-African conclave is part of Tunisia's ongoing commitment to joint African action and support for the continent's efforts to address the challenges it faces, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This event also reflects Tunisia's interest in promoting good governance, the fight against illicit financial flows, financial corruption, tax evasion and the illegal transfer of funds abroad, as well as the strengthening of legislation enabling the return of looted and misappropriated funds abroad. The conference will bring together government officials and international experts. They will discuss policies to combat illicit financial flows in the context of global and sustainable development, in line with the African Development Agenda 2 063. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, will open the conference on Wednesday. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
