Tunisian dams 33% full as of January 19, 2024 (ONAGRI)

Tunisian dams were 33% full as of January 19, 2024. This rate is estimated at 33.7% for the Sidi Salem dam (Béja) and 44% for the Sidi el-Barrak dam (Béja), according to the latest statistics provided by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI). The overall reserves in the dams reached 763.9 million m3 on January 19, 2024, compared with 632.579 million m3 on the same day in 2023. Overall inflows to the dams over the period from September 1, 2023 to January 18, 2024 stood at 370.276 million m3, a sharp drop compared with the average for the period (723.271 million m3) and a notable increase compared with the inflows recorded over the same period last season (120.001 million m3). The rainfall recorded across Tunisia during the period from September 1, 2023 to January 14, 2024 amounted to 78.2 mm. This is less than the average for the period (114.9 mm), and the rainfall deficit is between 19 and 58% in the various regions, according to the ONAGRI Vigilance/January 2024 Magazine, published on Friday.
