UTICA and GIZ sign memorandum of understanding to create Support Center for Responsible Business Activities

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) and the German International Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) so as to create an assistance center in charge of commercial activities, the Tunisian employers' organization said on Tuesday. This memorandum, signed on Monday, is part of the Global Solidarity Initiative (GSI) launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in order to support responsible business activities within the framework of global import chains. Under this memorandum, a Responsible Business Assistance Center will be created within UTICA for the benefit of Tunisian companies. It will provide companies with necessary guidance, support, data and networking so as to boost investment, innovation and value creation. Speaking of challenges facing Tunisian companies, UTICA President, Samir Majoul, stressed that cooperation with German partners must include issues of food sovereignty, water and renewable energy. He expressed hope that the legislative framework would be modernized so as to help the private sector meeting these challenges. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
