The World Bank (WB) will finance a number of projects in Tunisia worth US$500 million each year over the next few years, said World Bank Vice President for Middle East and North Africa Ferid Belhaj.
He pointed out during a meeting Thursday with Premier Najla Bouden, that US$ 500 million had been allocated to the government in 2023 to fund a number of projects in the social security and energy transition fields, including the ELMED electricity interconnection project between Tunisia and Italy, reads a Prime Ministry press release issued Friday.
Bouden for her part, underlined the importance of joint cooperation between Tunisia and the WB in implementing energy transition-related programmes and reinforcing food security.
Projects funded by the WB in Tunisia and those which are underway were also discussed during the meeting.
