Youth centre, sports hall in Saïda, Manouba, under Programme for Rehabilitation and Integration of Residential Areas

A youth centre and a sports hall were built in the neighbourhood of Saïdia, Manouba, as part of the first generation of the Programme for the Rehabilitation and Integration of Residential Areas (PRIQH1), Head of Project at the at the Urban Rehabilitation and Renovation Agency (French: ARRU) in Manouba Anouar Khezri told TAP. Both projects are of capital importance, Khezri said, for youth exposed to risk behaviours. The latter are urged to practice individual sports and take part in cultural and awareness-raising activities. " A youth centre will help improve the bahaviour of young people and enhance their abilities in different fields, notably scouting, the official said. The agency revamped about one hundred houses under the Housing Improvement Programme. It also contributed to wastewater disposal and to securing public services for inhabitants by ensuring smooth traffic and public lighting. Residents had demonstrated renewed interest in the neighbourhood since the start of rehabilitation and maintenanc e works. President of the Sport Stars Association in Saïdia Jelila Hedhili said the sports hall is a gain for youth in the district. She urged authorities to provide necessary support so that the sports hall can attract people from all age groups, mainly in low-income, and help build champions in individual sports. Saïdia Chief Scout Taysir Trabelsi said officials in charge of the youth centre are endeavouring to meet the needs of members in the 7-23 age bracket and expanding their knowledge and foster their talent.
